Some were in the form of nightmares of being stuck and powerless. Sometimes it was a voice that said, “You don’t deserve it.” So she put smokey quartz by her bed to filter out the nightmares. She kept cats as familiars because they are our protectors in the spirit world, just as dogs are protectors in the physical world. That way the only thing that could get in were beautiful memories flitting around the room like candy colored moths.
